In order to go the mine of Flogberget, you turn off from road 66  after Smedjebacken just after Lernbo. It is plain signed, but don't take a road 100 m too early. On the signed road you will reach the sign board according my picture. This photo was taken onmy way home so the car is pointing the wrong direction.  In any way you find a good parking place after 1 km. Here you can study a overview map for Bergslagen. Then a short walk uphill to a café. There is a good map over the mine. The guiding starts at this coffee house. First your guide take you around along a prepared path. The mine is about to the half open up with open shafts. Highest point is 45 m above the lowest entrance of the mine. This means that it is not filled with water and for this reason a suitable visit mine. It was in the middle of summer when I was there, a warm 27° summer day and most people was wear light clothes. Furthermore there were some kids. The were nice and suddenly I got a small girls hand in mine, to help in

the stairs. That was nice. At the watching points there were signs and informatione what to be seen. Some special openings explained how workthat the works were on different levels and the ore was brought outto a lower level for transport. This mine which often  is named mines ws started already in 1600 and the ore is magnetic. But already 1300 is this place notified
becausee of heavy thunder and strokes of lightning.  The ore of the mine had only 24% iron, of this case the mine was not economical good. In the end of 1800 the furnaces were developed and were demanded for more ore and Flogberget could not deliver for the right price and the mine was closed 1899. Probably because of electrification engineer Gröndahl started in the beginning of 1900 with plans to start opening the mine again. Through his inventions of dressing plant and production of briquettes from grounded ore into powder he succeeded to open the mine again. All this was ready made 1906 and getting out ore  started again. But the ore left in the mine was not enough so the mine was closed already 1918 again, wnen WWI was ended. The need for iron

decreased also and the mine become unprofitable. This happen during one year 1917 in spite of that the mine had generated the largest profit in it's history. The mine guiding started on the O-level where our guide opened the locked gateway. Here wo gathered on a place where different theatrical mine plays are arranged every years. Here all
started with testing ore for magnetic ore characteristics. Then we are led into the pathways. Here the temperature was only 4-5° above zero. None in the company seemed to realize this. It became lots of
complains from the mothers. The children manage very well. This ended with that we didn't walked the whole round. Anyway I got some photos. The guide explained his sorrow for this in spite he had informed the company members. After this our task was to walk up the hill to level 45 m. Wheer all started. At last you see a picture of the rests of the dressing plant, whic sorted the magnetich ore from stens. Even a picture of the working team.
