From the beginning Riley was a family name as in the end of 1800 had a company which built among other things cycles. 1905 they announced their first four wheel car. About 1930 was this company in control of Lord Nuffield's hands and was then sold to Morris also owned by Nuffield.
The shown car is build 1948 by Performance Cars. The engine of this shown car has a cylinder head taken from Riley Nine. It is a modified version of this famous hemispherical head. It's 4 cylinders, ohv in 45°,
It's 4 cylinders, ohv in 45 °, double cams operating short pushrods to the valves. This type were perfect for trial competitions. There was no possibility to use this car on regular roads because the clutch was as direct as an electrical switch.

Delage D8 "Il Drago Ruggente"1931

History according to photo. The owner Glenn Billquist. He wanted to build one impressing racer. He had one engine Isotta Fraschini V12 with 27 litres cylinder volume. It had ben used in a Caproni 313 bomber during WWII. Sweden had imported these from Italy. The engine gave 750 ps at only 2500 rpm. Frm the beginning came this engien from Skokloster museum and sold to Automuseum in Simrishamn. The whole Skokloster collrction was sold to Automuseum. Now they sold out what they don't wanted. Skokloster had 2 engines. One mounted in service mounting. In the airplane it had the cylinders pointed downwards. The problem for Glenn is that the engine is air cold and the exhaust pipes pointed upwards. See picture.
Glen chose a gearbox from one Ford truck 1940. The goal was to build a high speed racer with the feeling from 1930 th. Ater 2 years and a whole box of working hours this car grew. Parts are coming from several places. The chassie is a french Delago D1 1924 and body is new built in aluminum. Now he must run test driving and some changes, he says. After this the car and it's collected part will be shown on a museum.

Something about another Delage D8 This impressive Delage was build on special order for a French fighter pilot, Pellerine. He was married with a Swedish girl. The car was used for their driving from Särö, outside Gothenburg, to Paris and the Riviera. 1958 Björn Lind got the, privilege to buy the car. He used it some years before it was stored for life. To get the opportunity to buy such a car is always an advantage.
The mark Delage started 1905 and through successes in competitions at that time it got good reputation. This was mainly caused by the 8 cylinders 1.5 liter engine. 1935 Delage was bought by Delahaye and production stopped 1954. Only 2000 Delage cars were build and from them there are an unknown survivors.
